Project: Fleetspace
FleetSpace is a 3-D interactive, AI-enabled, decision-making tool for military Operations and Maintenance planning.
Overview
Fleetspace software is designed to reduce operating costs and increase mission readiness for the United States Army. Fleetspace uses a Digital Twin to simulate mission plans, apply uncertainty factors, and provide actionable information to Operations and Mission planners.
Fleetspace employs 3-D models and interactive graphics to assist soldiers in locating parts, personnel, and equipment to enhance operational readiness and reduce the cost per flight hour. The Fleetspace project involves various stakeholders, including AVX Aircraft, the US Army, and academic institutions such as Penn State University and Texas Tech University.
The primary objectives of FleetSpace are…
Mission Readiness Enhancement: To increase mission readiness, ensuring that military units are well-prepared and equipped to perform their duties effectively.
Digital Twin Simulations: By utilizing Digital Twin technology, FleetSpace aims to create accurate and dynamic simulations of mission plans, accounting for uncertainty and real-world complexities.
Actionable Information: The software's focus on providing actionable information is essential for enabling Operations and Mission planners to make informed decisions that contribute to mission success.
Resource Optimization: By helping soldiers locate critical resources efficiently, FleetSpace aims to enhance operational readiness and reduce the cost per flight hour, ultimately making military operations more cost-effective.
Cost Reduction: To significantly reduce operating costs associated with military operations and maintenance, helping to optimize resource allocation and utilization.
My role…
My HFE and UX/UI expertise are instrumental in designing an intuitive and efficient user interface that aligns with the needs and expectations of the end-users. Additionally, collaboration with the software developers and systems engineers is essential to implement the technical aspects of FleetSpace.
My role in this project includes HFE (Human Factors Engineering), UX (User Experience) research, and UI (User Interface) design. I work with a diverse team of Project Managers, HFE experts, UX/UI researchers and designers, Software Developers, and Systems Engineers. The project also involves interactions with various stakeholders and subject matter experts, including the US Army. Regular communication and coordination with the various stakeholders and team members, and keeping up with industry standards and best practices are required for developing an ideal product.
